Our Junior Firefighter program is for teens between the ages of 14 and 18. It allows minors to learn about volunteer firefighting; train with experienced firefighters; and in some instance, assist at fire scenes. Our goal is to give them a sense of belonging and a chance to help his or her community. Junior firefighters are closely supervised and are never permitted to participate in a drill or incident that exposes them to undue danger such as entering a burning building or operating at a hazardous materials incident. The juniors operate in a supporting role only. As they reach the age of 18, they become eligible for active membership. We are looking for individuals that are willing to work as part of a team, be able to take commands from CFD officers, be able to serve in a professional manner, and be able to attend the regular trainings and meetings. Due to the inherent dangers of firefighting, strict rules of conduct and tight procedural standards have been established. Each member is expected to understand requirements and to adhere to the standards. Below is a list of our current junior firefighters. We would be pleased to add your name to the list. Come to any training meeting to check out the possibility of serving your community through the fire department. Meetings are at Station 31 on most Wednesday nights at 7:00.
